within her community. Her professional journey began in 2000 as a mental health counselor. Subsequently, she transitioned into a role as a home health aide, where she consistently demonstrated excellence in client care. For 13 years, she served as a personal office assistant at the DC Center for Independent Living.
Deborah actively collaborates with various organizations, including the DC Public Schools and the DC Assistive Technology Program. Since 2018, she has been a board member of the latter and currently occupies the position of Outreach Specialist. Motivated by the experiences of her cousin with an intellectual disability, she is devoted to ensuring that all individuals are treated with dignity and that their voices are acknowledged. Through her initiatives, Deborah aims to cultivate a more inclusive society for people with disabilities.
