CRP Membership

Volunteer Opportunities

 

There are many opportunities to volunteer and serve in the greater Washington, DC area. The CRP welcomes new members to contribute their time and talents to improve the lives of children known to the child welfare system. The CRP consists of 15 members, eight are appointed by the Mayor and seven are approved by resolution of the DC City Council.

 

Membership Requirements

 

Panel members must be residents of the District.

Panel members must not be employed by the District government.

Panel members serve for a three-year term.

The Chairperson of the panel should be appointed by the Mayor and the Vice-Chairperson is appointed by resolution of the DC Council.

The Mayor and DC Council seeks to ensure diversity of professional backgrounds on the panel, such as children's attorneys, child advocates, parents, foster parents, and other consumer representatives, social workers, educators, and health and mental health professionals who are familiar with the child welfare system.

Panel members must be active in working groups that are projects of the CRP.

Panel members must produce an annual report that is disseminated to the Mayor, DC Council, Child and Family Services, the Department of Health and Human Services, community providers and other stakeholders.
